Thomas DeFrank has covered every Presidential election since 1968 for Newsweek. His work for the magazine has earned him the rank of "one of the country's best political ghostwriters" by The New York Times and the praise of Gerald Ford who called him "one of the finest journalists I have ever known..."
Mr. DeFrank served as Newsweek's senior White House correspondent until 1995 and also served as deputy chief of the magazine's Washington bureau for twelve years. His reporting for the magazine's behind-the-scenes book Quest for the Presidency 1992 was instrumental in Newsweek's winning the National Magazine Award for general excellence in 1993.
Tom DeFrank is the only newsmagazine correspondent to win both of the White House Correspondents' Association Awards for distinguished Presidential reporting.
