Rich Little, Dean of Impersonators and master of over 200 voices recently finished his engagement at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas. Rich continues to dazzle audiences with his portrayals of personalities in show business, politics, and fiction.
Currently performing speaking engagements, “Celebrities Who I’ve Known and Been” Rich takes the audience on a journey through the lives of celebrity Icons in the entertainment industry. An evening filled with stories of success and laughter that will bring knowledge of how the Icons of Hollywood made it.
In November 2006, Rich performed on David Lettermen’s Late Show which ranked its highest ratings of the season. He appeared on Comics Unleashed and was selected to entertain at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Rich is one of three sons of a prominent physician. He started his "career" at the age of 12 when he answered back to his teachers in their own voices. Observing the teachers in action was infinitely more fun than paying attention to class work. To get dates, he'd find out the girl's favorite actor then call her up imitating that actor's voice. Teaming with a friend, he earned his first payment as an impressionist at age 17. The pair won a talent contest on a Canadian television show, and went on to appear on variety programs throughout Canada. Rich later went solo, becoming a successful disc jockey and talk-show host in Ottawa.
While still in his early 20's, he was "discovered" in the United States. His friend, singer Mel Torme asked Rich to make a tape and presented it to Judy Garland. Garland thought it was "great" and Rich was signed for the show. Appearances on TV variety shows starring Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, Glen Campbell, and Dean Martin followed, as well as on such series as Laugh-In, The John Davidson Summer Show, and The Julie Andrews Show.
Rich had his own variety show in the 70's. He also was an early guest host on that TV staple, The Tonight Show, hosting 12 times. He was the star of the TV show KopyKats. Rich Little became a household name sitting in one of the Hollywood Squares.
Rich is one of the most diversely gifted and popular performers in the entertainment business. And although most recognized as the Dean of Impersonators, his talents include singing, comedy, and acting on stage, film, and television.
Rich has received 4 Stars: Hollywood Walk of Fame, Canada Walk of Fame, Las Vegas Walk of Stars and Palm Springs Walk of Stars. He was named "Comedy Star of the Year" by the American Guild of Variety Artists. The perpetrator of nine comedy albums and three HBO comedy specials, Rich Little's Christmas Carol with "W.C. Fields" as Scrooge, "Humphrey Bogart" as one of the ghosts and "Paul Lynde" as Bob Cratchit winning the Montreux Festival in Switzerland and earning an International Emmy
Over the years Rich has been active with numerous organizations giving back to those in need. He was instrumental in opening the Rich Little Special Care Nursery in Ottawa Civic Hospital in Canada and has donated his time to help raise funds for several organizations including The Jimmy Stewart Museum, Child Haven of Nevada, California Burn Foundation, Heart Association and Lied Animal Shelter. In addition he has performed in USO Tours in support of our troops.
