Dick Butkus
Pro Football Hall of Fame Linebacker
Dick Butkus is one of the best linebackers to ever play college football. He went on to the Chicago Bears, where he earned a reputation for making the meanest hits the NFL has ever seen.

Known more for his intensity and ferocity as a pro superstar, Dick Butkus began his legacy as the best linebacker to ever play college football. Everyone knows all about his hitting and meanness, but most don't remember just how fast he was in college with running back quickness making play after play after play.

Taken in the first round by the Chicago Bears, Butkus went on to become the greatest linebacker to ever play pro football according to most observers going to eight straight Pro Bowls and being named All-NFL in seven of his nine seasons. Before knee injuries shortened his career, Butkus was fast enough to be everywhere on the field and strong enough to take down any player with some of the meanest hits the NFL has ever seen.

In tribute to his life off the field, Dick Butkus has been presented with the Life Achievement Award from Cedars Sinai Medical Center in LA, and he is the recipient of the "Pope John Award," which recognizes outstanding achievement towards humanity.
