Davey Johnson played in the Major Leagues for thirteen seasons for the Orioles, Braves, Phillies, and Cubs. He was an All Star four times and earned three Golden Gloves.
As a manager, Davey Johnson is recognized as being among the best in the history of the game. He began his career as a manager with the New York Mets in 1985 and directed the team to the 1986 World Series title. During five of his six seasons in New York, the Mets won 90 or more games. Johnson also guided the Mets to two division titles and placed second or higher in the division each year.
tJohnson managed the Reds (1993-1995), Orioles (1996-1997) and Dodgers (1999-2000). Under his leadership, the Reds played in the 1995 NLCS and the Orioles made the 1996 and 1997 ALCS.
