Danica Patrick
The First Woman to Lead a Lap at the Indy 500
Danica Patrick is one of the few successful women racers in a male dominated industry. At the age of 22 she is already establishing herself as a truly talented Indy car driver.
She was recently named the Indy 500’s “Rookie of the Year” after taking 4th overall in the race. Just like one of her role models Lyn St. James, Patrick is the second female to be named “Rookie of the Year” in the Indy 500. However, even surpassing her role model Danica became the first woman to lead a lap at the Indy 500 and is the highest placing woman ever in the world’s biggest race.
In addition to her success in the Indy 500, Danica has placed second in the Formula Ford Festival and third in the Toyota Atlantic Championship. Danica is currently engaged and lives in Arizona.
