President and COO, StayWell Health Management
Paul Terry, Ph.D., is President and COO of StayWell Health Management, the nation’s premier provider of workplace health promotion programs.  Paul returns as a StayWell alumni having worked in both Product Development and program delivery for the StayWell Program in the 1980’s.  Before returning to StayWell, Paul was the President and C.E.O. of the Park Nicollet Institute, a health care research and education organization.  Paul was also on the Health Education faculty at St. Cloud State University and Hamline University.   He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and his Masters from Minnesota State University at Mankato where he was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Humanitarian Award.

Paul was twice a Senior Fulbright Scholar and is a co-founder of an NGO in Africa committed to HIV prevention.  He was a Group XV Kellogg National Fellow studying leadership and community capacity building in developing nations.  Dr. Terry planned and chaired eight national conferences dedicated to advancing health promotion in health care.  He is Past-President of the Minnesota Public Health Association and is an editor of the American Journal of Health Promotion.  He is principal investigator of a three year CDC funded study of the effectiveness of different models of worksite health promotion.

The programs that Dr. Terry has led have won the C. Everett Koop National Health Award and the Minnesota Department of Health Award for Excellence in Health Promotion.  He is widely published in professional journals and has co-authored patient publications that have won five awards of excellence from the Society for Technical Communications and five National Health Information awards.  He is co-author of four books including “Well Advised: Your Guide to Making Smart Health Decisions.”  His most recent book is “Breaking Stone Silence: Giving Voice to HIV Prevention in Africa.”
