Joan Brock suddenly lost her sight from a rare eye disease at age 32. Her presentations are very humorous and they inspire you to see the everyday things that happen in our lives by using all of your senses.
Joan Brock relates thoughts and
feelings in her amazing story about coping with life and its challenges. She
moves listeners through tears and laughter with a focus on facing challenges
with courage and humor.
With a degree in recreational
therapy, Joan¹s professional career began at a correctional facility and mental
health hospital. She then served in several capacities at a state school for
blind children, including Certified Braillist and public speaker to educate
audiences about visual impairment.
Joan¹s courageous story hits home
when she explains that she lost her sight in less than three weeks because of a
rare disease, ironically while working at the school for blind children. Five
years later she lost her spouse to cancer, becoming a widowed, disabled parent
in her thirties.
A mother, speaker and author with
a new husband, Joan shares thoughts and feelings as she tackles the world in a
"differently abled" manner. Joan has accelerated her career in public
speaking nationally, including the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table in
1993, as well as international engagements. The audience is spellbound as she
tailors her speeches to their focus. Joan Brock shows there's "More Than
Meets the Eye" through presentations, tapes and a book published by
HarperCollins in 1994. In 2002, she was featured in a book called
"Believing in Ourselves" which captures the stories of 35 women who
overcame challenges in their lives to become the women they are today.
