Dominique Dawes started in gymnastics at the age of 6. Her first and only coach, Kelli Hill, quickly realized her potential and started Dominique competing at the age of 10. Dominique burst into the international spotlight when the US Team captured the Bronze Medal at the 1992 Olympic Games.
Since then, Dominique has won more National Championship medals than any other athlete, male or female, as well as four World Championship medals. One of her greatest accomplishments came when she swept all four events and won the All Around title at the 1994 National championships.At the 1996 Olympic Games, Dominique Dawes and the US Gymnastics team stole the hearts of America with their team Gold Medal. Since then, she has appeared on Broadway in the hit musical, Grease. She recently appeared on the Disney television show, The Jersey. She has demonstrated well rounded abilities by maintaining honor roll status in high school and also serving as the Prom Queen at her senior prom. She has also received the Balancing It All award (1995) from McDonald's as well as the Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete Award (1995), presented annually to two outstanding athletes who have demonstrated good citizenship.
